From design to IST, SES controls the energy

One team and one safety system through the full life of a data centre build. Design, construction, initial energisation, start up, testing and commissioning, and integrated systems test, with every isolation, permit and switching operation recorded.

  • Design to IST, one safety systemSES writes the rules, forms the isolations, issues the permits and executes the switching, so the same people and the same standard carry through from first drawing to handover.
  • Energy Marshal and Senior Authorised Person coverClient side control of electrical energy across the whole construction and commissioning programme, including day and night shift handover for 24 hour testing.
  • HV and LV switching, isolation and energisationSwitching programmes, isolation and earthing, proving dead and controlled energisation under the project safety rules, up to and including 33 kV.
  • Final inspection and QA/QC before energisationSES prides itself on a thorough final inspection and QA/QC process. Equipment is only authorised for energisation when it meets the highest possible standard, so the risk is removed before the power goes on, not discovered after.
SES with you through the whole project
1
Design and pre constructionElectrical safety rules, ESSOW, permit and LOTO system written for the project. Authorisation levels, AP register and switching plan templates in place before anyone touches a switchboard.
2

3

4
Start up, testing and commissioningLive Testing & Commissioning Permits, Limitation of Access and controlled load bank, generator and UPS testing under the project safety rules, 24 hours a day with EM shift handover.
5

Handwritten paper permits in 2026?

Most permit systems have not changed in twenty years. Pen written, hard to read, slow to raise, slower to approve, lost in a drawer when someone asks for it and no record of who was working under what isolation. SES Safe Permit fixes that on any device, in minutes. Click through the live screens below.

Arc flash awareness · SES-AF-Awareness-001

Can you prove who on site has had arc flash awareness?

Most projects have no arc flash awareness at all, and no documented register of who has been told. Everyone who walks past a switchroom needs to know what an arc flash is, where the boundary is and what the label means. SES delivers it in five minutes and records every pass.

  • Five minute awareness videoDigital, professional and site ready. What arc flash is, the boundaries, the label and the PPE, clearly explained.
  • QR quiz and automatic pass recordScan, answer ten questions, pass at 8 out of 10. Name, company, number and date recorded in the awareness register.
  • Labelling standard for every boardBoundaries, incident energy and PPE category on every switchboard, in your logo and branding.
  • Part of the SES documentation suiteAwareness procedure and PPE guidance to sit alongside your Electrical Safety Rules.

How to work with SES

Four ways in, one standard

Start with a remote review of your documents, or have SES on site to see how your safety system works in practice. Under NDA, no obligation.

Tier 1 · Remote

Document Health Check

Send SES your rules, permits, LOTO, RAMS and signage. In ten working days you get a gap report, a red, amber, green rating for every document and a fix first list with a fixed price quote.

Tier 3

Modernise

Keep your own structure. SES rebuilds the documents around it, closes the gaps you approve and finishes everything in your logo and branding.

Tier 4

Full build

The whole suite from the SES master set, tailored to your project, with Energy Marshal and SAP cover on site and SES Safe Permit™ to run it.

About SES

Written in the switchroom, not the office

Safe Energy Solutions was founded by Chris Greenwood, a 33 kV Senior Authorised Person with HV and LV switching and client side Energy Marshal experience on hyperscale data centre projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and APAC. Every SES document and every Safe Permit workflow comes from procedures that have been run on live sites, under real commissioning pressure.

SES uses decorated and experienced Energy Marshals and Senior Authorised Persons for its design and review process, many of them internal to SES. Nothing leaves SES without our experienced team and our thorough internal review process behind it.
